Meet the Team

Brendan Dowling

Brendan DowlingBrendan Dowling is the CEO and Founder of Digital Trading ( DT ). He is recognised in the Telcoms industry as a thought leader who regularly speaks at Major international events about the future of Telecoms and Media. He drives the strategy for creative and innovative solutions on behalf of our clients and has created some aggressive strategies that have been internationally recognised as industry changing and copied the world over. Brendan is a serial entrepreneur in the Telecoms industry having created the first MVNO in Europe which he sold to Vodafone, a converged Content VAS Business which he sold to BT and most recently he is the founder of DT. Brendan has a passion for this industry and has worked with Telecoms and Media companies all over the world. Brendan holds an MBA from University College Dublin, a Commerce Degree from University College Cork and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA).

Jim Milne

Jim MilneJim Milne is the Director of Operations and is responsible for Operations and Product Management. He has spent over 35 years in the Telecoms industry, 25 of which was with BT. Jim was sponsored by BT to complete an honours degree in Electronic Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh before going on to work in BT’s world renowned research labs in Ipswich, UK. He worked on early developments the industry now recognise as broadband and internet technologies. He then moved into business management specialising in Product Management, Program Management, Operations and Service Management. For the past 10 years Jim has been working with start-up companies both as a consultant and as a senior company member and his extensive operational and business experience has been key in developing and launching major global products and services. After launch he would go on to establish these products and services within a coherent customer service environment emphasising the continuous improvement of customer satisfaction.

Paul Bennett

Paul BennetPaul is VP of Global Sales and has over 30 years in the Telecommunications and IT Industries.  He spent many years working with large companies like Philips, ADP and BT, more recently Paul has focused on developing and delivering innovative new solutions to the Telecommunications industry which started with his appointment as VP of Global Sales for BT Brightstar in 2000, an initiative started by BT to commercialise the technological developments of BT’s Research Laboratories (BT Exact), on a global basis. Paul established the sales and marketing function for a number of new BT ventures and helped them win contracts with Fixed and Mobile Operators in Europe, Middle East and India. This activity built upon Paul’s previous successes in BT Global Sales, where he worked on multi-million pound partnering and joint venture agreements in the USA, Europe and Australia. Since leaving BT in Dec 2003, Paul has held a number of Director level positions with high-tech Telecommunications companies and has been instrumental in developing their Sales and Marketing strategies, building distributor networks and closing high value sales contracts.   Paul has an MBA from Manchester Metropolitan University, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Management and a Member of the Institute of Marketing in the UK.

Waqar Shah

WaqarShah copyAs Head of Technology, Waqar is responsible for a team of Experienced Software Engineers and he also has the role of System Architect for the Digital Trading products.  Waqar began his career in 2001 by designing and implementing commercial databases and web technologies for large Enterprise Clients. He has successfully developed commercially deployed databases and web applications, with scalable system architecture, managing the enterprise level projects, managing IT human resources and complex automated business processes. Waqar is well established in the telecommunications and mobile sector and recently completed a project with a global mobile content supplier. His key strength is the sound understanding of business commercial models and in-depth knowledge of technological frameworks.  Waqar studied Computer Science and Software Engineering at The University of Birmingham and achieved a Bachelors in Engineering, he then went on to achieve a Masters in Science for Internet Software Systems (with Distinction).

Stuart Nuttall

Stuart is the Commercial Director and also serves as In-house Counsel for DT.  Having qualified as a solicitor in 1997 he worked in Private Practice in London, advising nascent internet companies and other technology and telecoms clients.  He was quickly recognized as an expert in the internet space, becoming legal correspondent to Internet Business and Webspace Magazines, serving as Vice-Chairman of the Society for Computers & Law in London and writing and lecturing widely on Technology and the Law. His experience within the sector is wide ranging, having represented Technology Start-Ups and Global Telcos; Major Hollywood Film Studios and Independent Production Companies; Internet Service Providers and MVNOs.  Stuart has also spent years working in industry, both in legal and commercial roles, where he has developed a practical, hands-on and collaborative style.  He is highly entrepreneurial and creative in his approach and is driven by the desire to find commercial solutions that enable and support long-term relationships.

Roy Rodford

Roy RodfordRoy is Head of Strategy and also a serial entrepreneur, with particular knowledge of digital media, satellite and terrestrial broadcast and creation of managed or outsourced services in these fields. He began his business career in the mobile phone industry in the early 1990’s, and has a wealth of experience in many fields of the media and communications industry, including the successful build (and subsequent sale) of his own internet & mobile messaging-based marketing business in Ireland.

Roy spent 10 years as a business and consumer product strategist for Vodafone, followed by 7 years with a BT Media & Broadcast joint venture and then in BT Global Services, heading their new media and messaging product & service initiatives on a global basis. Much of his experience involves the bringing together of strategic partnerships to deliver complex value chains for media & telecommunications services, and Roy retains a strong professional network and specializes in this approach
